Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC)

The EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) Directive applies to;

All electrical and electronic equipment that is liable to cause electromagnetic disturbance or the performance of which is liable to be affected by such disturbance.

The equipment may be categorised as 'appartus' or 'fixed installation.'

The current EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) came into force on the 20th April 2016, replacing 2004/108/EC. The now superseded Directive (2004/108/EC) had came into force on the 20th July 2007 (with a 2 year transitional period), replacing and earlier version of the Directive (89/336/EEC, as amended). It has been a requirement to CE marking equipment under the EMC Directive since 1996, but today a new Declaration to the EMC Directive must be made against 2014/30/EU
