The RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) places restrictions on the amount of 6 substances (Lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls polybrominated diphenyl ethers) that can be used in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) within one of the defined categories of the Directive. Directive 2002/95/EC came into force on the 1st July 2006 and has now been replaced by 2011/65/EU on the 2nd January 2013. The Directive has been subsequently amended by Amending Directive 2015/863 which adds restrictions on four further substances; Bis (2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
